The Nigerian team has secured a win over the Morrocan team in the Quarter-finals stage of the ongoing African Championship tournament (CHAN 2014) in South Africa by scoring 4 goals against the Moroccans who scored 3 goals.  The Morroccan team advanced to the last eight of the competition after overcoming Uganda in their last group game with a 3-1 victory to secure their place as Group B winners while the Nigerian Eagles finished second in Group A as they eliminated tournament hosts South Africa in their final group game with a 3-1 victory to send themselves into the quarters.

Red light District in Zambia named "ABUJA"

There is a place in Zambia called ABUJA. It is not an imitation of the Nigerian capital, but a sex den ruled by hardcore prostitutes in the eastern side of the ever blazing Matero Township in Lusaka. Most
A Sunday Mail inquiry has established that in ‘Abuja’, willing clients are assured of cheap sex, with the rates ranging from K20 to K50, making it affordable even to youngsters yearning for the forbidden fruit.
After entertaining clients on home turf, by 19:00 hours, Abuja ‘queens’, now clad in skimpy attire, take their game out to hunt for prey in pubs dotted around Matero and they move in packs of two and three. The queens do not mind what the community feels about their sex trade as for them it is business as usual.
The sex den was branded Abuja due to the prostitutes’ aggression and pride as compared to the similar attitude exhibited by actresses who play the sex workers’ role in Nollywood flicks.
Residents have begged the Lusaka City Council to come to their aid in Matero East who fear ‘Abuja’ is posing a serious health hazard as it is deemed a fertile breeding ground for sexually transmitted infections, especially the much dreaded HIV. one of the residents said, “Clients in vehicles are coming one after another to this house. The problem is that their ring leader, who is old enough to be their mother, is encouraging these girls to continue with their immoral activities. She has now even initiated her own daughters into prostitution”.
Interestingly, while most people work during the day, the Abuja stalwarts are fast asleep and wake up in the evening to go about their daily routine.

She released her first single ‘Let’s Take It Naked’, just yesterday and aspires to be the next Rihanna.
“I think that, unfortunately, everyone’s perception of socialites has been pretty accurate so far, which is what I want to change. People think I’m exactly like Paris Hilton, that I do nothing, I don’t work for myself, I don’t make my own money, I just spend my dad’s money, and I’m a spoiled brat. I hope they’re not right.” Bim as she’s called explains why she’s following her passion and going into music.

Mr. & Mrs. carter (Jay Z and Beyonce) lead on BillBoard's Power 100 List

The Billboard Magazine has announced Jay Z and Beyonce the most powerful couple in music for the year 2013. according to the magazine the couple leveraged their fan support and star power to release new albums in unprecedented ways—Jay Z through Samsung and Beyoncé through iTunes—they instantly modified the dynamics of  how the industry and fans interact with music. Jay Z virtually gave his album away whilst Beyonce charged a premium price for hers. however, the intriguing aspect was the element of surprise which restored the excitement that usually accompanies a new release, before all that was replaced by the monotony of carefully plotted promotion and all. The couple are relentlessly always on top.

Top APC Offiocial in Crucial NEC Meeting in Abuja

Abuja witnessed a crucial Meeting of top executive officials of the APC involving discussion of serious issues in the party on Thursday, 23rd January 2014. Interesting Observation as Names of Certain Ministerial Nominees are ridden with errors!

There has been serious expression of dismay at the quality of the list of Ministerial nominees presented to the Upper Legislative House of the National Assembly which exposed errors in the spelling of certain names submitted for screening. On Monday before he travelled out of the country, President Jonathan forwarded the nominees’ names to the Senate for confirmation.
Among the best-known names was military general and repeated top government official Aliyu Mohamed Gusau.  Nonetheless, his name was written as ‘Aliu’. Similarly, the name of Mrs. Laurentia Laraba Mallam was sent by the executive to the legislature as ‘Lawrencia Labaran.’
A security official from Kaduna State who is serving in Abuja that the correct spelling of his aunty’s name was wrongly spelled in the copy said to have emanated from the Presidency. “That is not the correct spelling of my aunty’s name, it was a serious misspelling and not good,” he said.  “She has no Labaran in the arraignment of her names but Laraba. It is important personality’s choice and appropriate names are written for official purposes and ought to be correct.” It was also gathered that many newspapers effected the correction, while others did not and others carried an admixture of correct and incorrect names. Attempts to obtain clarification from Jonathan’s Principal Private Secretary, Hassan Tukur, were unsuccessful.
A political analyst who was irked by the situation lamented bitterly “If these people cannot get the names of well-known Nigerians right that they are nominating for top government offices at the highest level, they must be getting several other things wrong...  If they are getting wrong something they care about, what can they get right about issues and people they don’t care about?  Better still, what do they care about?  How has mediocrity travelled so far?”

This calls for serious concerns as the list must have passed throughg several senior officers before being passed to the Senate.

Abuja Aso Rock Clinic’s VIP Section Gets More Funds Than Two Federal Teaching Hospitals!

Information reaching Abujanaija has it that the nigerian federal government will this year pump more cash into constructing an elite wing of the presidential clinic in Abuja where only a few big and mighty will receive attention, a spending that dwarfs the total funds allocated by government for entire developmental projects of two federal university teaching hospitals.
Under the proposed 2014 budget laid to the National Assembly last December, the “Construction of a VIP Wing at the State House Clinic will cost N705 million.”
That amount surpasses the government’s budgeted cost for the building of new wards (buildings), laboratories and all other developmental projects in two university teaching hospitals.
For instance, the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital and the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, have been allocated a total of N662 million for capital expenditure this year.
The only teaching hospitals with capital budgets exceeding the spending for the Aso Rock elite facility are Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, with N727 million; and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, with N1.9 billion.
The State House Clinic, pointed out by the Rule of Law Collective, is not open to the public. Currently, only staff of the State House are allowed services.

But the planned wing is expected to be used to provide exclusive services to the president and his vice, and senior government leaders visiting the presidential villa.
The N705 million allocated for the VIP wing of the hospital will not be the first, as the same construction had earlier received N300 million in 2012-totaling N1billion for just that unit.
Meanwhile, upgrades, repairs and construction in the entire hospital cost at least N506 million in 2011, N401 million in 2012, and over N300 million in 2013.

Fire in Abuja as Union Bank Area 10 is razed down by flames!

Pandemonium broke loose yesterday evening around U.T.C Area 10 in Abuja as the Union Bank Branch Building was engulfed in fire yesterday evening, The last floor of the 3-storey building was completely razed and the fire spread to popular Abuja furniture store, Hadar Situare. Furniture items worth millions of naira were destroyed in the inferno.
The fire was eventually put out by the combined team work of the Airforce fire fighters & the Federal Fire Fighters. It took seventeen trucks of water to put the fire out. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained.
What could be the cause of such serious fire? Could it have been an attempt by officials of the bank branch to cover up some fraud?
